Existing Web System Development

Not every project needs to be rebuilt from scratch. We take over existing applications, map them out, stabilise them and keep developing them.

Existing Web System Development

Does this sound familiar?

If any of these are true for you, we can help.

The previous developer is unreachable and nobody knows the code.

There is no in-house capacity to keep developing it.

Bugs have piled up for a long time and every fix causes a new one.

An outdated Laravel or PHP version is running and you do not dare upgrade.

The system is slow or unstable under load.

You need a new feature, but the old code is hard to change.

You need an independent technical opinion before development starts.

You already have a working web system and just need it developed further? The previous developer is unreachable, there is no in-house capacity, bugs are piling up, or an outdated Laravel and PHP version is running underneath.

Old systems are often slow, unstable and expensive to extend. This is usually not because they were built badly: time moves on, technology advances, and once-good solutions become outdated.

We take the system over, map the codebase and stabilise it step by step, without having to restart the whole project. When an independent opinion is needed before development starts, we also run a technical audit and code review with a concrete action plan.

The result: a predictable, documented system that can be developed again, and someone to turn to when something breaks.

What we can take on

Concrete work we do in this area.

  • Taking over a Laravel or PHP system from another developer
  • Taking over and developing Statamic CMS systems
  • WordPress site maintenance and stabilisation
  • Debugging and bug fixing
  • Laravel, PHP and dependency upgrades
  • Performance optimisation and scalability
  • Legacy refactoring and incremental modernisation
  • New feature development in an existing system
  • Technical audit, code review and security assessment
  • Documentation, testing strategy and knowledge transfer
  • Long-term maintenance and operations

What you get

Not just code, but a working system you can keep building on.

01

A mapped codebase and a written assessment of its state.

02

A prioritised action plan: what is urgent and what can wait.

03

A stabilised, updated system with a running test suite.

04

A documented deployment and operations process.

05

Security and performance findings with concrete recommendations.

06

Ongoing maintenance, if you want it.

How we work

Four steps from the first conversation to handover.

1

We understand the problem

We go through the current situation, the business goal and the technical environment.

2

We propose a solution

We define the approach, the development needed and the expected effort.

3

We build

The system is built transparently, with version control and continuous communication.

4

Handover and beyond

You do not need to find a new developer after handover: we also take on maintenance and further development.

What we work with

Technology is not the message, it is the professional background.

Frequently asked questions

What most people ask before we start.

Yes, that is the point of this service. We first map the codebase and summarise its state in writing, and only then start development. That way there are no surprises along the way.
It happens. Even then we do not automatically recommend a rewrite, because it is usually more expensive and riskier. We stabilise through incremental refactoring and rewrite only what genuinely needs it.
It is manageable. Before upgrading we cover the critical features with tests, then move version by version, verifying after each step. It only reaches production once it is stable.
Yes. The technical audit and code review are available on their own: you get a detailed report and action plan you can take to another developer if you wish.
For maintenance and stabilisation, yes: bug fixing, security and version updates, performance work, recovering a broken site. We do not take on building new WordPress sites.
